Documents Required for Applying Passport Online
- List of documents for fresh passport application
- 1. Proof of Present Address (any two of the below documents)
- Aadhaar Card (Aadhar Card is compulsory)
- Bank Passbook
- Election Commission Photo ID (Voter ID)
- Driving License
- Electricity bill (Latest)
- Landline or postpaid mobile bill (Latest)
- Water bill (Latest)
- Proof of Gas Connection
- Valid Rent Agreement
- Certificate from Employer on letter head of reputed company
- Birth certificate of child along with Parent's passport copy (In case of minors)
- Spouse's passport copy (First and last page including family details mentioning applicant's name as spouse of the passport holder, provided the applicant's present address matches the address mentioned in the spouse's passport)
- For college/university students: A letter from your institution on the institution letterhead explaining the exact address that you presently reside in.
- 2. Proof of Date of Birth (any one of the below documents)
- Birth Certificate
- School leaving Certificate/Matriculation Certificate (issued by the school last attended)
- Pension book/Pension payment order (in respect of retired government official) or copy of an extract of the service record of the applicant (in respect of Government official); (only acceptable if it has the precise date of birth of the applicant)
- 10th Class Certificate
- Aadhaar Card
- Driving License (only acceptable if it has the precise date of birth of the applicant)
- PAN Card
- A declaration given by the Head of the Orphanage/Child Care Home on their official letter head of the organization confirming the DOB of the applicant
- 3. Photographs
- Photographs of size 51mm x 51mm with white background for the children below 4 years
- 1. Proof of Present Address (any two of the below documents)
- Please note:
- Address proof must match with the present address as per application.
- Providing the Aadhaar card will expedite the application process.
- For minor applicants: carry original and self-attested copies of parents passports, in case parents possess passport and documents can be attested by parents, Annexure D, Both Parents' Aadhar Card and both parents' physically presence.
Passport Application Instructions
- You can renew your passport at least 9 to 12 months before it expires to avoid expiry, especially if you have upcoming travel plans or already have visa of any other Country. Renewal can be initiated up to one year before expiration or within three years after expiry.
- Renew your passport if it is lost, stolen, or damaged, or if you need to update personal details (address, name, surname, appearance, marital status, etc.).
- Adults get new passport validity for 10 years; below 15 years get 5 years validity; 15-18 years can get up to 18 or 10 years expiry.
- Minimum 6 months validity of the passport is required to travel.
- We provide only online services. You just send your required data & fee, we shall provide you the applied receipt/appointment letter and instructions.
- Essential documents: Original passport, Xerox copies of first two and last two pages, 10th class certificate (if literate), birth certificate for minors, proof of address, PAN card, driving license (if any). For Police Clearance Certificate applications, additional documents may be required.
- Fees: Adults (10 years validity): Rs. 1,500 for 36 pages, Rs. 2,000 for 60 pages + 1000 service charges. Minors (below 14): Rs. 1,000 for 36 pages + 1000 service charges. Tatkal: Rs. 3500 + 1500 service charges.
- Check your passport renewal status online via Passport Seva portal.
- Renewal generally takes 30-60 days; Tatkal 3-7 days.
- Passport can be denied for police cases, wrong information, or adverse police verification.
- Renew at the nearest Passport Seva Kendra or Regional Passport Office.
- Expired passports can be renewed up to three years after expiry; beyond that, a new passport is required.
